HEALTH & SAFETY
Zero Incident Compliance.
Safety is not just a priority at Chepstow – it is a core value that guides everything we do. We believe zero incidents is an achievable goal, and we work relentlessly towards it.
Our Zero Incident Compliance approach is built on principles of vigilance, responsibility, and teamwork.
ZERO-INCIDENT STRATEGY
We foster a working environment where every team member is empowered to take ownership of their own safety, and the safety of those around them.
Our culture is built on open communication, mutual accountability, and a continuous commitment to learning from experience.
By embedding safety into every aspect of our operations, we ensure that it stays not just a policy, but a shared value across our entire organisation.
Our operators and site staff receive ongoing training to stay current with the latest safety practices, including machine operation, hazard identification, and emergency response.
This ensures that our team is well-prepared for the dynamic challenges of the earthmoving, quarrying, and civil engineering sectors.
We utilise innovative telemetry, monitoring systems, and automated safety features to minimise risk.
Our modern fleet is equipped with collision avoidance systems, telematics, and other automated safety features that reduce human error and improve operational control.
To ensure equipment safety and reliability, our machinery undergoes regular maintenance checks and detailed inspections.
This proactive approach helps prevent mechanical failures that could pose safety risks.
We adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and conduct regular internal audits to support our high standards.
Our commitment to zero incidents means not only meeting but exceeding compliance requirements.
We take into account the safety of local communities and the environment, ensuring that our operations are conducted responsibly and with minimal impact on surrounding areas.
By setting the highest standards for health and safety and reinforcing our zero-incident goal through training, technology, and a safety-first mindset, we continue to protect our people, our projects, and our communities.
SAFETY INITIATIVES & TRAINIG DEVELOPMENT
Our groundbreaking adoption of telemetry-enabled inclinometers has significantly enhanced tipping safety, setting new industry benchmarks for reducing operational risk and resulted in winning a national safety award.
We have cut hazardous working at heights, part of the Fatal 6, by pioneering ground-level refuelling solutions for both diesel and AdBlue. This innovation removed the need for our operators to work at height during refuelling – drastically reducing one of the industry’s major risk factors.
Our comprehensive safety systems include daily digital equipment checks, closed-loop defect reporting and integrated OEM feedback sessions.
Our accredited MPQC in-house trainers and training programmes are tailored to all levels, from apprentice operators to experienced engineers and site managers.
Our ultramodern simulators for ADT’s and wheel loaders significantly enhance operators’ skills and safety. This not only reduces risk, but supports our sustainability goals through more efficient operations.
By embedding safety-focused behaviours and awareness into our culture, we proactively reduce incidents and create safer working environments for all.
Safety goes beyond physical health at Chepstow. We actively promote mental health awareness, support accessible support networks, and continually engage with our teams through mental health champions, ensuring everyone feels valued, supported, and safe.
